When using our Flexible Silicon Moulds, Modelling
Paste, Gum Paste, Mexican Paste or Moulding Paste is ideal but for the new comer
or not so serious "Orchard" White Icing which is readily available in Australian
Supermarkets is fine to use also.
Instructions to match the
1. Have your clean mould ready and knead
the icing well
2. Firmly fill the mould, trying not to
overfill it. Excess can be removed using the back edge of a knife working
across from the centre out.
3. Flex the mould and remove
the formed icing - allow to dry on a piece of bakers paper to prevent
4. Using Petal Dust or Shimmer Dust (or both)
and a soft brush - blush over the petals.
5. The finsihed
flower is now ready to decorate with.
General & Helpful Hints & Tips.
Moulds may be 'lightly' wiped with cooking oil, making
sure to remove any excess.
If the icing is too sticky or limp, knead in a little
cornflour or icing sugar.
For large and, or detailed moulds, the filled mould may
be placed in the freezer for a few minutes - this will help firm the icing and
hold the detail while unmoulding.
Tips for successful Painting Of Moulded Sugar
We mix petal dust with a small amount of Cake Decorators Rose Essence (alcohol) as this dries quickly and prevents the sugar from becoming soggy and using an appropriate size soft paint brush.
We suggest using this method particularly if you are requiring strong colours, such as painting a Santa.
